The island generates, I feel, an amount of paperwork disproportionate to the number of citizens that occupy it. I'm not a stranger to paperwork, I did my time as a beat cop and learned about it the hard way, but it still manages to come as something of a surprise.

When Billy Kaplan's voice distracts me away from the pile of papers in front of me, I'm grateful, and look up to see him and Teddy standing in the doorway of the office looking a little hesitant.

"Hello, boys," I reply, sitting back and setting my pen down.

"Something I can help you with?"
